INCLUSION FIRST mid-term project meeting

The first mid-term project meeting of the project INCLUSION FIRST was held online on 28 June 2023 within the Transnational Project Meeting 2. It was attended by representatives from the University of Malta as the consortium partner institution and ŠK Mladosť from Slovakia as the project coordinating institution.

Apart from exchange of expertise, the online meeting dealt with the first part of implementation phase summary and agreement on the next steps regarding specific tasks that are focused on the major project objectives. Prior to the meeting, relevant documentation was circulated along with appropriate articles that promoted fresh thinking on the project concept.

There were two main objectives of the meeting. Firstly, the project participants dealt with a state of play and recent activities done by project consortium. Both institutions gave an overview of the ongoing project processes and achievements. Secondly, they discussed the upcoming second mid-term project meeting, which will be held on-site in September 2023 in Slovakia within the Transnational Project Meeting 3.

The core discussions reflected a preparation of the booklet Run and smile, which is intended to be one of the project outcomes. On behalf of ŠK Mladosť, a list of thirteen Slovak personalities was introduced for a purpose of the booklet Run and smile by the project coordinator. Representatives of the University of Malta introduced nine amazing Maltese personalities and gave detailed information on aspects of social inclusion of each selected person. The proposed names are a subject of approval and they will be consequently contacted about their interest to be part of the booklet Run and smile.

The project participants agreed that a preliminary choice of personalities well respects the intentions of the project INCLUSION FIRST. It will assure that the booklet Run and smile will present a great diversity in terms of covered sectors of society, inclusion areas, various sports and disciplines. The project representatives noticed that it would also provide a high balance of gender equity despite it was not the main purpose of the project.

The consortium members agreed that the prepared booklet with selected personalities would have a common structure assured mainly by the similar questions for interviews. Article about each person would contain a profile information and a part on questions and answers. Provided pictures should have an approval of the authors to prevent any issues with copyrights.

The dates approved for the next meeting to be held in Slovakia are 5 – 8 September and the project coordinator will prepare a programme in light of received documentation. It will link the outcomes to the upcoming meeting to the European Week of Sport 2023. In case of need, there will be additional ad hoc meetings via chat or google meets organised until September 2023.
